OUR STORY

FROM THE CRAFTERS, DIRECT TO YOU

In 2005, our small family of 3 made the jump across the ocean in search of a better life. On trips back to our 'other home' we would always bring back trinkets to share with our Australian friends, always finding a sense of beauty and comfort in items that reminded us of home. After 10 years of collecting fabrics and beadwork from South Africa, stocking some of our fabric products and homewares in stores, and selling our beadwork to friends and their friends, we took the jump and went to our first ever pop up market in at the Gaslight Tavern in Brompton in late 2015 and never looked back.

Now located in the warm, community-centred precint that is Plant 4 Bowden, we have loved bringing a little bit of African vibrancy to Adelaide while forming meaningful partnerships with Zulu crafters in South Africa. Our crafters create unique, handmade products which marry contemporary design with traditional Zulu art and crafts, the likes of which have never before been seen in Adelaide.

All of our traditional Zulu beaded, wire and telephone wire products are handmade by a Zulu crafter in a community based in the Valley of 1000 Hills in Zululand (KwaZulu Natal). We have worked hard to develop an ethical relationship with crafters that encourages then to develop a sustainable income for themselves and their families.

A mother/daughter team, bringing South Africa to you.

CURATED crafts, selected just for you.

We work with a small community of crafters, paying retail prices - the same price they would sell their crafts for on the streets of South Africa - to provide them with a sustainable income for the future.

We are always striving for the highest quality possible and are constantly looking for new ideas to help grow our range and help our crafters diversify their offerings so they can continue to build their business in South Africa.
